Where: Torremolinos town centre and Recinto Ferial, Avenida del Real, 29620 Torremolinos
Admission: Main municipal programme is free

Without question, the biggest addition to our list of things to do in Costa del Sol this week is the Feria de San Miguel.

The festivities officially begin on Friday 25 September. The opening evening includes the traditional pregón, flamenco and the switching on of the fairground lights.

From Saturday, the celebration expands across Torremolinos.

During the day, the town centre becomes the heart of the Feria de Día. Plaza San Miguel, Plaza de la Unión Europea and Plaza de la Nogalera are among the main meeting points.

At night, the focus moves towards the Recinto Ferial and Auditorio Municipal Príncipe de Asturias.

The weekend also brings several major free concerts. Falete performs on Friday, Los Aslándticos take the stage on Saturday and Pepe y Vizio perform on Sunday.

Families can enjoy children's entertainment, theatre and workshops, while Saturday also features the traditional horse parade and carriage competition.

Want to explore more before the Feria begins? Combine the celebrations with our guide to the best free and budget-friendly things to do in Torremolinos. Spend a few hours around La Carihuela, Parque de la Batería or the beach before heading towards the Feria later in the day.

2. Celebrate Día del Turista in Mijas Pueblo

When: Wednesday 23 September
Time: Flamenco from 12:00
Where: Plaza Virgen de la Peña, 29650 Mijas Pueblo
Admission: Free

Wednesday brings one of our favourite additions to this week's programme.

Mijas celebrates Día del Turista, a day dedicated to the visitors who help make tourism such an important part of the municipality.

The celebration takes place in Plaza Virgen de la Peña and begins at midday with a free flamenco performance.

Afterwards, visitors can enjoy a free paella tasting.

It is a simple event, but that is exactly what makes it interesting. Instead of a large commercial festival, you can combine local food and flamenco with one of the Costa del Sol's most beautiful white villages.

Allow several hours to explore the village before or after the event. Our new complete guide to Mijas Pueblo covers the white streets, viewpoints, historic sights and other places worth visiting.

For travellers looking for authentic and affordable things to do in Costa del Sol this week, this is an excellent choice.

3. Discover Estepona Fashion Week

When: 23–26 September
Time: From 20:00
Where: Parque Botánico Orquidario, Calle Terraza 86, 29680 Estepona
Admission: Free

Fashion takes over Estepona for four evenings this week.

The 10th Estepona Fashion Week – Estepona de Moda takes place from Wednesday until Saturday at Parque Botánico Orquidario.

The event showcases fashion businesses and designers, transforming the area around Estepona's famous Orchidarium into an outdoor catwalk.

Saturday concludes the programme with the VII Young Designers Competition at 20:00.

This is particularly easy to combine with an afternoon exploring Estepona's colourful historic centre.

If you are travelling on a budget, Estepona is also featured in our guide to the best free and budget-friendly things to do on the Costa del Sol, including its Old Town and street art route.

4. Experience the Romería del Rosario in Fuengirola

When: Sunday 27 September
Start: 10:00
From: Iglesia del Rosario, Plaza de la Constitución, 29640 Fuengirola
Destination: Parque El Esparragal, Mijas

Sunday brings one of the week's most traditional Andalusian experiences.

Fuengirola celebrates its Romería in honour of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, the patron saint of the city.

The morning starts with the Misa de Romeros at 10:00 in the Iglesia del Rosario. After the service, the procession leaves central Fuengirola and travels towards Parque El Esparragal in neighbouring Mijas.

The route passes Plaza de la Constitución, Avenida Condes de San Isidro and Avenida de Mijas before continuing towards the countryside.

Once at El Esparragal, the atmosphere becomes much more social. Expect families, food, drinks, traditional clothing and live music before the return journey later in the day.

This is not a tourist recreation of Andalusian culture. It is an established local tradition.

If you are staying in Fuengirola, you can also use our Fuengirola Market guide to plan another local experience during your stay. The city's main traditional market takes place on Tuesday morning.

5. Visit the New TENTE Exhibition in Fuengirola

When: From 21 September until 6 November
Where: Museo de la Ciudad, Calle María Josefa Larrucea, 29640 Fuengirola
Admission: Free

Looking for something quieter or travelling with children?

A new exhibition dedicated to the famous TENTE construction toy opens at Fuengirola's Museo de la Ciudad on Monday 21 September.

The exhibition is organised with Asociación Tenteland and explores the Spanish construction toy that became particularly popular from the 1970s onwards.

Because the exhibition is free, it is easy to include during a day in Fuengirola.

Combine it with the town centre, Los Boliches or a walk along the Paseo Marítimo. For more ideas, see our guide to the best free and budget-friendly things to do in Fuengirola.

6. British Culture Day in Estepona

When: Saturday 26 September
Time: 17:00–22:00
Where: Paseo Marítimo – Monumento a la Peseta, 29680 Estepona
Admission: Free

Estepona's Compartiendo Culturas programme continues this weekend.

After celebrating Italian culture earlier this month, Saturday is dedicated to the town's British community.

The programme takes place beside the Mediterranean and brings together culture, entertainment and the international community that has become an important part of life on the western Costa del Sol.

Combine the event with Estepona Fashion Week for a full afternoon and evening in the city.

7. Ukrainian Culture Day in Estepona

When: Sunday 27 September
Time: 12:00–21:00
Where: Paseo Marítimo – Monumento a la Peseta, 29680 Estepona
Admission: Free

One day later, the focus shifts to Ukrainian culture.

The Sunday programme includes an artisan market, cultural activities, traditional food and entertainment throughout the day.

Together, the British and Ukrainian Culture Days make Estepona one of the strongest destinations for free activities this weekend.

Start in the Old Town, walk towards the seafront and stay for the cultural programme.

8. Run or Watch the Marbella Half Marathon

When: Sunday 27 September
Where: Marbella

Sunday is also an important date on Marbella's sporting calendar.

The Marbella Half Marathon 2026 takes place on 27 September and is expected to bring thousands of runners to the city.

You certainly don't need to participate to enjoy the event. Major road races create a lively atmosphere and provide another reason to spend Sunday morning in Marbella.

Afterwards, continue exploring the city.

For a completely different side of Marbella, discover our complete guide to Puerto Banús. The marina is free to explore and works particularly well as an afternoon stop after spending the morning around central Marbella.

9. Get Active During #BeActive Week in Fuengirola

When: 23–30 September
Where: Various locations across Fuengirola

September is also a particularly active month in Fuengirola.

From Wednesday, the city participates in #BeActive Week, part of a wider programme encouraging residents and visitors to discover different forms of sport and physical activity.

Saturday 26 September is particularly busy.

The programme includes a family paddle-surf gathering, bodybuilding competition and a community running session. Sunday continues with football events.

These activities are primarily designed for participants, but they demonstrate how easy it is to combine an active holiday with the beach.

10. Discover Málaga's Final September Exhibitions

If you prefer art and culture, Málaga offers several quieter alternatives.

Two exhibitions reach their final weekend on Sunday 27 September.

El nombre del bicho, ya te lo he dicho, by Juanjo Fuentes, can be visited until Sunday.

The temporary textile art exhibition Tejiendo historias also closes on 27 September.

Both provide a useful cultural alternative if you are spending the day in Málaga.

Afterwards, continue through the historic centre and explore some of the city's free highlights. Our guide to the best free and budget-friendly things to do in Málaga includes the Roman Theatre, local markets, viewpoints and other ideas.

Costa Card Local Tip

Late September is one of the easiest periods to experience different sides of the Costa del Sol in a single day.

The weather is generally still pleasant enough for the beach, but traditional local celebrations increasingly replace the huge commercial festivals of July and August.

Use that contrast.

Spend the morning exploring a beach, white village or attraction. Take a slower lunch during the afternoon. Then head towards a feria, cultural event or local celebration later in the day.
