Festivals and Events in October 2026 in the Costa del Sol
October is one of the most underrated months to experience the Costa del Sol. The intense heat and crowds of August have disappeared, but sunny Mediterranean days often continue well into autumn. More importantly, the local calendar remains packed with traditional fairs, cultural festivals, live music and sporting events.
The festivals and events in October 2026 in the Costa del Sol offer something quite different from the peak summer season. This is the month when local traditions take centre stage. Fuengirola celebrates one of the region's most important ferias, San Pedro Alcántara hosts an entire week of festivities and Marbella welcomes contemporary dance companies for TodoDanza.
If you are visiting Málaga, Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Marbella or Estepona this October, these are some of the events worth adding to your itinerary.
Feria del Rosario in Fuengirola: 6–12 October 2026
If there is one event you should know about this October, it is the Feria del Rosario in Fuengirola.
From 6 to 12 October 2026, Fuengirola celebrates its patron saint, Nuestra Señora la Virgen del Rosario Coronada. The Feria del Rosario is deeply rooted in local traditions and remains one of the most important annual celebrations in Fuengirola.
The fair centres around the Recinto Ferial, where traditional casetas, Andalusian food, music and attractions create a completely different side of Fuengirola from the beach resort most visitors know.
Horses and equestrian traditions also play an important role in the atmosphere surrounding the feria. During the festivities, expect locals in traditional Andalusian clothing, decorated carriages and plenty of opportunities to experience the culture of southern Spain.
The 2026 music programme adds another reason to visit. Marta Sánchez, David Bustamante, Antonio José, Cantajuegos and Los 40 Sessions are among the announced acts. The programme also includes the XLVIII Festival Flamenco El Jabegote Juan de la Loma, featuring Israel Fernández, Paqui Corpas and El Petro.
If you are travelling with children, Cantajuegos makes the feria particularly interesting for families this year. For couples and groups of friends, visiting later in the evening provides a livelier introduction to the feria atmosphere.
Address:
Recinto Ferial de Fuengirola
Calle Recinto Ferial
29640 Fuengirola, Málaga
Official information: Fuengirola Tourism – Feria del Rosario
Allow at least several hours to explore the feria rather than treating it as a quick stop. Combine it with a walk through Fuengirola or along the seafront and you can easily turn your visit into a full day.
Marbella 4Days Walking: 1–4 October 2026
October starts actively in Marbella with Marbella 4Days Walking, taking place from 1 to 4 October 2026.
The concept is straightforward: participants explore Marbella and its surroundings on organised walking routes of different distances. Routes of approximately 10, 20 and 30 kilometres make the event accessible to different levels, while participants can also choose to walk individual days rather than completing the full four-day programme.
For international visitors, it offers an interesting alternative to discovering Marbella exclusively from the beach or Old Town. Routes combine sections of the coast and surrounding landscape, attracting walkers from across Europe.
Location:
Central Marbella
29601 Marbella, Málaga

If you are not participating, early October is still an excellent period for walking in Marbella. Temperatures are generally much more comfortable for exploring on foot than during July and August.
Marbella TodoDanza: 3 October–6 November 2026
Culture takes centre stage in Marbella with the 17th edition of TodoDanza, running from 3 October until 6 November 2026.
This year's theme, Poéticas del cuerpo, explores the body as a form of memory, language and artistic expression. Fourteen companies are participating, with performances and activities spread across several cultural locations in Marbella.
Venues include the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella, Museo del Grabado Español Contemporáneo and Paseo de la Alameda.
That makes TodoDanza particularly interesting if you want to combine Marbella's beaches and Old Town with something more cultural. Some activities are free until capacity is reached, while other performances require tickets.
Main information point:
Delegación de Cultura
Plaza de Altamirano, 2
29601 Marbella
Official programme: Marbella TodoDanza 2026
The festival continues into November, so travellers visiting at the end of October can still include a performance in their itinerary.
Feria de San Pedro Alcántara: 13–19 October 2026
Another major traditional celebration follows immediately after Fuengirola's feria.
From 13 to 19 October 2026, San Pedro Alcántara celebrates its annual fair. Although San Pedro belongs to the municipality of Marbella, it has retained a distinctive local identity, and the feria is one of the best opportunities to experience it.
The celebrations take place at the Recinto Ferial La Caridad and include casetas, music, fairground attractions, local food and entertainment for different generations.
Unlike some events created primarily with international visitors in mind, this is first and foremost a local celebration. That is precisely what makes it worth experiencing as a tourist.
Visit during the afternoon or early evening for a more family-oriented atmosphere. Later at night, the music and casetas become the focus.
Dates:
13–19 October 2026
Address:
Recinto Ferial La Caridad
Calle Torrente Ballester, 33
29660 San Pedro Alcántara, Marbella
Entrance: Free

The fair is particularly easy to combine with a day exploring Marbella and San Pedro.
Autumn Culture in Málaga
October is also an excellent month to spend more time in Málaga city. While Fuengirola and San Pedro provide the major traditional ferias, Málaga offers a busy programme of theatre, exhibitions, music and sporting events throughout the month.
One confirmed event is the 46th Carrera Urbana Ciudad de Málaga, taking place on 25 October 2026. The city race is accompanied by a shorter Mini Carrera and brings runners into the streets of Málaga.
Starting area:
Avenida de Andalucía
Málaga
Official information: Málaga City Council
If running is not your idea of a holiday activity, October is still an ideal month for discovering Málaga on foot. The cooler weather makes it much easier to combine the historic centre, Alcazaba, Muelle Uno and the city's museums in a single day.
Cultural Events in Benalmádena and Estepona
Not every October event needs to be a major festival. One of the advantages of travelling outside the peak summer months is discovering the smaller cultural programmes organised by individual municipalities.
Benalmádena's October agenda includes cinema, literary activities and cultural programming, while Estepona continues its autumn programme with exhibitions and performances.
Because these smaller events are regularly added or changed during the month, it is worth checking the municipal calendars shortly before visiting.

Estepona cultural information: Estepona Tourism Agenda
These programmes are particularly useful if you have already explored the major attractions and want to experience something more local.
Make the Most of October on the Costa del Sol
October is an excellent month for combining local events with sightseeing. With more comfortable temperatures than during the peak summer months, you can easily spend the morning exploring Málaga, Marbella or Fuengirola before attending a feria, cultural performance or concert later in the day.
If you are planning to visit the Feria del Rosario or Feria de San Pedro Alcántara, keep in mind that evenings and weekends are usually the busiest periods. Arriving earlier can make transport and parking easier. For concerts and cultural performances, always check the official programme and ticket availability shortly before your visit, as schedules may change.
Most importantly, leave some room in your itinerary to explore. A morning at an attraction, lunch by the Mediterranean and a local event in the evening is exactly what makes October such a rewarding time to discover the Costa del Sol.
